Solitaire Rings

Solitaire Rings

A single diamond on a plain band. Small solitaires make elegant dress rings and stack well with other bands, while larger stones are the classic engagement ring.

Cluster Rings

Cluster Rings

A diamond cluster ring groups several small diamonds closely together so they read as one larger stone. A cluster gives a generous, sparkling look for a fraction of the price of a single diamond of the same overall size, and it is one of the most popular styles for vintage-inspired rings.

Eternity and half eternity rings

Eternity and half eternity rings

Diamonds set in a continuous line around the band. In a half eternity ring the stones run across the top half only, which leaves plain metal underneath. That makes the ring more comfortable beside a wedding band and possible to resize. Eternity rings are traditionally given to mark an anniversary or the birth of a child.

Trilogy Rings

Trilogy Rings

A diamond trilogy ring has three diamonds side by side, often said to stand for past, present and future. Trilogy rings work as engagement rings, anniversary rings or a dress ring worn on the right hand.

Crossover, infinity, heart and wishbone rings

Crossover, infinity, heart and wishbone rings

Shaped designs where diamonds follow a curve or a twist in the band. They are lighter in feel than a solitaire and suit people who want something a little different, or a ring to wear every day on its own.

Diamond and gemstone rings

Diamond and gemstone rings

Rings that combine diamonds with a coloured stone such as a sapphire, ruby, emerald, tanzanite, amethyst or aquamarine. Sapphires and rubies are hard enough for daily wear. Emeralds are softer and more brittle, so treat them with a little more care.

Diamond Rings for Every Occasion

  • Engagement: a solitaire, trilogy or cluster set with a centre diamond. See our engagement rings for proposal styles and advice on diamond grades.
  • Anniversaries and new babies: a half eternity ring is the traditional choice, often worn beside the wedding band.
  • Birthdays and milestones: a diamond and gemstone ring in a birthstone colour, or a small solitaire dress ring.
  • Just for you: many people buy a diamond ring for their right hand to celebrate something of their own. Crossover and cluster designs are popular for this.

How to Read a Diamond Ring Listing

Our product names give you the key facts, but they can be confusing at first.

  • Metal: 9ct, 18ct or platinum, and the colour of gold.
  • ct or ctw: ct is the weight of a single diamond. ctw is the total weight of all the diamonds in the ring. A 0.25ctw cluster has several small stones that add up to a quarter of a carat, so it costs much less than a ring with one 0.25ct diamond.
  • Colour and clarity grades such as G/H and SI, where shown. G/H diamonds look white to the eye, and SI diamonds usually have no marks you can see without magnification.

If you want a fuller explanation of diamond grades, see the guide on our engagement rings page.

Which Metal for a Diamond Ring?

Many of our diamond rings are made in 9ct gold, which is hard-wearing and keeps the price accessible. 18ct gold has a richer colour and suits finer rings, and platinum is the most secure metal for holding diamonds over a lifetime. White gold makes white diamonds look brighter, while yellow gold gives a warm, vintage feel. If you will wear the ring next to a wedding band, choose the same metal so neither wears down the other.

Getting the Size Right

Most of our diamond rings can be resized in our workshop. Full eternity rings, with diamonds all the way round, are the exception, so check your size carefully before choosing one. If you are buying a gift, borrow a ring the person wears on the same finger and bring it in to be measured. For more sizing tips, see our gold rings guide.

    Looking After a Diamond Ring

    • Take rings off before applying hand cream, cleaning, gardening or going to the gym.
    • Clean the ring in warm water with a drop of washing-up liquid and a soft toothbrush, paying attention to the back of the stones where grease builds up.
    • Have the claws checked once a year. Worn claws are quick to re-tip in our jewellery repair workshop, and far cheaper than replacing a lost diamond.
